Living in Ultraviolet
Living in Ultraviolet is an experimental film created during my freshman year introduction to motion capture class, in collaboration with two classmates, Gabriel Chi and Olive Stewart. This project aims to evoke a sense of eeriness and intrigue, set to the alternative song "Ultraviolet" by FKA Twigs.
Over multiple days, we recorded and captured data using Motive, then transferred it to Unreal Engine. We designed a unique environment that exudes a spooky atmosphere, featuring an avatar performing crawling, abstract dances, and creepy motions. The rhythmic movements, combined with the avatar's intriguing texture and form, create an unsettling visual experience.
The ethereal and captivating soundscape of "Ultraviolet" contrasts with our eerie environment, adding to the ominous feel of the film. Interestingly, our vision for this abstract short film emerged from an accidental dislocation of an avatar's arm during capture, which inspired us to embrace the unsettling theme.
